"Stop Family Separation" Windows of Understanding #WeSeeThroughHate
2020

I accompanied some of the members of DIRE (Deportation & Immigration Response Equipo) on a canvassing event to pass out information on “What To Do If ICE Is At Your Door.” The concern, caring and help the DIRE Team has for immigrants that face family separation and detention is critical and led me to make these two banners. One of the banners contains the text from the information passed out by DIRE. I am passing on this information to ones that may need it. The other banner is a protest sign calling all to ”Stop Separation in New Brunswick and the US.” Both banners are made with both paper and fabric that are cut and sewn together.
This was a project with Windows Of Understanding #WeSeeThroughHate www.windowsofunderstanding.org at Taco House in New Brunswick, New Jersey, 2020

The window installation is made up of photographs of women and girls that were taken by the artist in the New Brunswick, NJ community. The photographs are paired with quotes from women leaders from the US such as Michelle Obama and Kamala Harris. The quotes are embroidered on colorful fabric. The installation site was located at Blackthorn Restaurant & Pub, New Brunswick, NJ from January 21 through February 28, 2019 and was part of the city-wide project "Windows Of Understanding" #WeSeeThroughHate www.WindowsOfUnderstanding.org
